1,9 Million SEK for Translation of Swedish Literature
The second round in 2021 for Nordic and Non-Nordic translation grants has closed with an outcome of 1,9 Million SEK awarded to 105 different book projects. 141 applications were submitted all in all, which corresponds to the level before the pandemic started.
The interest in Swedish non-fiction was exceptionally high; 24 titles were awarded a translation grant in this round, among them Nina Burton’s nature writing title The Six Walls of Life and Ingrid Carlberg’s biography about Alfred Nobel.
Alex Schulman’s novel The Survivors is still catching international interest, as the children’s book writer and illustrator Emma AdBåge.
The most frequent languages among the approved applications were German, Spanish, Dutch and French.
