Information regarding the coronavirus

In these troubled times a lot of focus is on limiting the spread of the virus. This has of course affected the whole world, and all kinds of business. The world of books is severely affected in that book fairs and festivals are cancelled, bookshops are closed, and book releases are postponed.

Our remit, to help promoting Swedish literature in translation, remains unchanged, and we are now trying to find ways to help as much as we possibly can, to keep the global literature exchange going.

What are we doing to facilitate?

For those of you who have been awarded grants from us, we fully understand that events and travel or even publication dates might be delayed or cancelled or modified in different ways.

We will do our best not to put you in any financial trouble because of this situation, so we will be very flexible with prolongations of deadlines and reports.

Swedish literature abroad – grants for travel, promotion and themed events

Flexible deadlines of reports and modifications to projects.

Deadlines for reports: If you have postponed your project, and you will not be able to report in time, please just write us an email about your situation. Together we will find a new deadline.

Changes of projects and events: If you cannot postpone your project, maybe you could achieve the same goal in a different way? Please write us an email and we’ll think together.

Bidrag till översättare av svensk litteratur och dramatik

Flexible deadlines of reports and modifications to projects.

If you can postpone your trip or project, just let us know so that we can discuss a new deadline for the report.

If you need to cancel the trip or project – write us an email about it and we will together discuss what to do.

Translation of Swedish literature and drama

PDFs instead of physical books and 50% guaranteed for translation costs.

If you need to postpone the deadline for sending us the finished books, please let us know and we will find a new date. We will be able to postpone the deadline with 12 months from the original deadline.

If you have trouble sending physical books: Since many offices are closed and in some countries there are strict quarantine rules, we understand that it might be difficult to send physical books right now. For all deadlines until October 2020, we will accept a pdf of the book instead. The demand for the acknowledgement inside the book is still valid.

In accordance to a joint initiative together with our colleagues within the Nordic literature export organisations, we will guarantee a grant of at least 50% of the translation costs for all approved applications during the rest of 2020.

Furthermore, we will do our best to speed up the payment process as much as possible.

It is of course a pity we cannot meet you all in person, we look forward to seeing you soon again at a bookfair somewhere in the world.

Upcoming deadlines

Information regarding upcoming deadlines for grants that include travel, seminars and activities involving meetings in bigger groups.

We fully understand the difficulties in planning travel and activities during the circumstances related to the coronavirus.

Our applications are open as scheduled, but please be aware that our grants have several deadlines during the year, making it possible to await the development regarding travel- and meeting restrictions due to Covid-19.
