The Swedish Comics Association's exhibition presenting ten female comic book writers in Berlin 2019. The touring exhibition will now open in Madrid.

Funded Projects Promoting Swedish Literature Around the World

752 000 SEK have been awarded to twelve projects devoted to promoting Swedish literature around the world.

The grant for Swedish Literature Abroad aims to promote high quality Swedish literature and drama internationally. This is the first round of four calls in 2021 supporting promotion, travel and themed events.

One of the supported projects is an exhibition presenting ten female Swedish comic book writers, hosted by The Swedish Embassy in Madrid this summer. The exhibition is produced in collaboration with The Swedish Comics Association (Seriefrämjandet) and has previously been presented in Berlin.

Several Swedish poets are invited to this year’s Berlin Poetry festival. Johannes Anyuru, Mariama Jobe and Judith Kiros are granted to take part in the programme under the themes “Black voices of Europe” and “Queer Poetry”.

In the list of approved applications there are also several projects connected to translation, such as the digital magazine Swedish Book Review, presenting and promoting Swedish literature to the English-speaking world.

Deadline for the next call is the 6th of May 2021.
