Swedish book talks spread all over the world

Twenty seminars and book talks in five languages are now being distributed to more than one hundred Swedish consulates and embassies all over the world.

In connection with this year’s Gothenburg Book Fair, Swedish Literature Exchange produced three Critic’s choice seminars, two branch seminars about the Swedish book market and financed the translation of fifteen author talks into English, French, Spanish, German and Arabic. The seminars have now been launched on sharingsweden.se, a comprehensive collection of resources about Sweden, provided by the Swedish Institute.

The specially designed toolkit offers three uniquely compiled seminar packages, all complete with authors’ bios and easy-to-use scripts for social media postings. The toolkit is now being distributed to more than one hundred Swedish consulates and embassies all over the world. Some of them have already started to launch their own digital bookfair campaigns, both in social media and elsewhere online.

The Swedish Institute was invited to take part in the project by Swedish Literature Exchange and Gothenburg Book Fair:

– Of course we said yes, not least since the material provided us with such a tremendous opportunity to make newly published Swedish literature visible on a potentially global scale. And adding to that the possibility to tell our international target groups about both the Gothenburg Book Fair and the function of the Swedish Literature Exchange, highlighting this as an example of how different actors in the field of Swedish culture work together, says Henrik C. Enbohm, project manager for literature at the Swedish Institute.
