Programme for artistic freedom

The Swedish Arts Council has launched a new programme to strengthen artistic freedom globally during a three-year period (2021-2023). The programme is realised through financial support from Sida, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, and aims to improve conditions for artists to create, display and distribute their work without being exposed to threats or harassments.

On 3-5 May we were hosting the 9th World Summit on Arts and Culture together with the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA). The Summit brought together leading policymakers, researchers, and practitioners from the arts and culture sectors to discuss how to safeguard artistic freedom.
