World Summit on Arts and Culture 2023

In 2023 we are hosting the 9th World Summit on Arts and Culture together with the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA). The summit will bring together leading policymakers, researchers, and practitioners from the arts and culture sectors to discuss how to safeguard artistic freedom.

Programme for artistic freedom

The Swedish Arts Council has launched a new programme to strengthen artistic freedom globally during a three-year period (2021-2023). The programme is realised through financial support from Sida, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, and aims to improve conditions for artists to create, display and distribute their work without being exposed to threats or harassments.

Eva Lindström accepts the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2022

The Swedish author and illustrator Eva Lindström received the world’s largest literature award, the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, at a ceremony in the Stockholm Concert Hall on Monday evening. The award was presented by H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria.

Sweden condemns the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine
