Nordic and Non-Nordic translation grants

The third and last application round of applications for translation grants 2022 has now been finalized. We had the pleasure to receive 156 applications from all over the world and of these 131 were approved.

The August Prize 2022

Three award winners of the August Prize 2022 and the title Best Swedish Book of the Year were announced on November 28th in the categories fiction, non-fiction and children & young adult.

International promotion of Swedish literature and drama

We indeed see that the literary world is opening again! We have now closed the third application round where 16 applications were approved. Together these projects, indeed, showcase a beautiful multitude of genres, regions and writers.

Grants for translators of Swedish literature

In this year’s third application round 13 projects were approved. There will, for example, be a research travel for the Polish translation of the play Eld by Jonas Hassen Khemiri, mentorship for the Italian translation of Nattkorpen by Johan Rundberg and an English sample translation of Konsterna by Elin Ruuth.

Book Tasting 2022

In the Book Tasting, the Swedish Institute for Children’s Books goes through the previous year’s entire set of publications of books for children and young adults and presents the works with the usage of statistics and in-depth analyses of prominent themes.

Nordic and Non-Nordic translation grants

We have finalized the second round of applications for translation grants 2022, The amount of applications was slightly lower than in previous rounds, but notable is the steadily growing interest in Swedish books for young readers.

Grants for translators of Swedish literature

In this year’s second application round 24 projects for work related travel, sample translations and mentorship were approved. The round includes sample translations of two dramas by Sara Stridsberg and in September several translators will travel to the Gothenburg Book Fair.

We are pleased to announce that 26 fiction publishers and translators will participate in the Gothenburg Book Fair Fellowship program, September 21–24.

French award to Swedish-Iranian poet Jila Mossaed

The prestigious Le prix Max Jacob, founded in 1951, rewards each year a French poetic work and since 2004 also a foreign poetic work in French translation, thus giving this award an international dimension.
