Artistic exchange at the forefront
The second distribution round of grants for international promotion of Swedish literature and drama in 2025 has been decided. In this allocation, several literary festivals are supported for the invitation of Swedish authors and poets. We are also glad to approve collaborative artistic projects.
In this round, we support 20 literary projects taking place in 13 different countries across five continents.
Three of the supported projects are:
The Swedish Embassy in London is granted for a project that seeks to strengthen exchanges between Swedish and British playwrights and directors, focusing on collaborative text work during a two-week development lab. In collaboration with ensemble actors from Gothenburg’s City Theatre, the lab will culminate in staged readings taking place in relation to the Gothenburg Book Fair 2025.
The collaborative exchange is also present at the European Poetry Festival. The project encompasses not only poetry readings but also the opportunity for poets to develop joint performance works. In this round we support the Festival’s invitation of Aase Berg, Ida Börjel, Jörgen Gassilewski, Jonas Gren, Anna Hallberg and Cecilia Hultman.
The presence of the artistic exchange is also noted in an upcoming anthology on poetry with related public events initiated by The Swedish Institute in Paris. The publication will include works by six Swedish and six French poets, and together with a translator they will translate each other’s works.
