This year’s final allocation for Nordic and Non-Nordic Translations

The third round of applications for Nordic and non-Nordic languages for 2025 has now been finalised. Of the 125 applications received, 89 were approved. In this round, we are for the first time supporting both translation and production costs for three poetry works.

These three poetry classics will be translated:

  • Aniara, the epic science fiction poem by Harry Martinson, will be translated into Croatian.
  • Bebådelsen by Mare Kandre will be translated into Danish. It is a collection of prose poetry about pregnancy, the body, and individuality.
  • Samma mamma by Hanna Rajs will be translated into Greek. This book is a poem addressed to the author’s deceased mother, exploring grief and the author’s own new motherhood.

Eleven applications for translations into Italian were approved, the highest number for one specific language. English and German followed, with eight approved applications each.

We continue to see a stable trend with a high number of applications for children’s and young adult literature. 41 percent of the approved applications were allocated to children’s and Young Adult literature.
