Grants for translators of Swedish literature

In the first application round 2026 for grants for translators, we approved 25 applications. In this round we received many applications for sample translations, as well as travels to participate in Översättargruvan (the Translators’ Mine) at Hästbäcks gård.

Support for festivals, workshops and book tours

The first funding round of grants for 2026 aimed at the international promotion of Swedish literature and drama has now been concluded. In this round, grants have been awarded 23 applications featuring a diverse range of literary events.

This year’s final allocation for Nordic and Non-Nordic Translations

The third round of applications for Nordic and non-Nordic languages for 2025 has now been finalised. Of the 125 applications received, 89 were approved. In this round, we are for the first time supporting both translation and production costs for three poetry works.

The fourth distribution round of grants for translators, as well as the grant for international promotion of Swedish literature and drama for 2025, has been decided.

Today marks the publication of the first joint Nordic survey assessing the gross revenue generated from the sale of literary rights on behalf of Nordic authors in 2024.

The August Prize 2025

Three award winners of the August Prize 2025 and the title Best Swedish Book of the Year were announced on November 24th in the categories Fiction, Non-fiction, and Children's and Youth Literature.

Swedish Stories Travel On

The third distribution round of grants 2025 for international promotion of Swedish literature and drama has now been decided. In this round, grants have been awarded to 15 applications featuring a diverse range of literary events.

The selection of participants in the Swedish Literature Exchange fellowship program at the Gothenburg Book Fair, 24–27 September, is now official!

Translations enrich the literary discourse worldwide

We are allocating support to 88 translations in the second round of applications for Nordic and non-Nordic languages 2025. In this round, we are able to fund both the translation and production of poetry.
